About :
Dr. Pradipta Mukherjee is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Biomedical Engineering, IIT Delhi and holds a joint faculty position at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, AIIMS, Delhi. His research interests have been centered on the interdisciplinary field of biophotonics, which integrates biomedical engineering and optical sciences. His research efforts focused on developing multifunctional optical coherence tomography and microscopy systems, polarization microscopes, and novel computational methods to decode the functional dynamics of living biological tissues through tomographic imaging. The overarching goal of his research is to push the boundaries of optical imaging in biomedicine, aiming to visualize the unseen and transform healthcare through non-invasive means.
He obtained his PhD as a Japanese Government MEXT scholar from CORE, Utsunomiya University, Japan where he developed an epi-illumination Mueller matrix microscope and polarimetric methods to simultaneously investigate microstructural polarization and mechanical properties. Following his doctoral studies, he undertook postdoctoral research fellow position at the Computational Optics Group (COG) at the University of Tsukuba, Japan, where he worked with Prof. Yoshiaki Yasuno. Here, he worked on the technological advancements of optical coherence microscopy, with a specific focus on its application in studying various metabolic diseases.
